This finely detailed block print kalamkari was made for the Persian market in India. Soft tones of madder and indigo have been used and the panel is printed onto a fine cotton that has a central join. Delicate tassels finish each end of this piece.
It measures 1.56m wide x 1.75m long (61 inches wide x 69 inches long)
Possibly made to be used as a tablecloth, it would look wonderful as a wall hanging, perhaps behind a bed.
In good condition for its age, there are some rust marks on one area, a small repair and some holes in one section. See the last few photos.
