An antique French hemp sheet or chanvre (the French translation), I have 3 of these sheets available. The colour is a soft white and they are all embroidered with initials in red cross stitch. They are in good condition, no wear but the odd tiny mark or rust spot. Use as a bed cover or tablecloth or it to make summery curtains or cushions. This fabric is also suitable for dyeing and upholstery.
This fabric was woven on a narrow loom and each sheet consists of 2 long pieces of fabric that have been joined together down the centre with a tiny hand stitch.
Each sheet measures 1.80m wide x 2.8m long. (71inches wide x 110inches long). These sheets have been marked with a laundry marker - see the last photo.
To fit a single bed and a double bed 4ft 6inches as a bedspread /throw.
The initials are av 9, av 10 and cv - if you have a preference let me know.
