This antique French curtain is made from fine cotton lawn, embroidered with crewel work - known in France as 'un rideau de Cornelys'.
The curtain measures 1m wide at the gathered top (39inches) and 1.50 metres wide at the bottom (59inches) x 2.70m Long (106 inches).
This listing is for one curtain.
This curtain dates from the late 19th century. The scalloped edge runs down each long edge but the bottom edge has a straight hem, so has probably been shortened at some point.
This curtain is in very good condition. There are a few pin prick holes and some neat repairs but by the time the curtain is hung on a pole the holes will be barely noticeable. The top edge has loosely gathered heading tape, which you could use to hang it from a curtain pole or baton.
A single curtain like this can provide a screen and soft light when hung centrally between a pair of heavier curtains.
This is a truly stunning Parisian style window treatment that is in remarkable condition for its age.
