Vintage Kantha Quilt Throw
This colourful quilt has been handmade in India from up-cycled saris. Kantha quilts are made from layers of saris sewn together with a tiny running stitch known as a kantha stitch. Extra embroidery is often added, and you will never find two vintage quilts that are the same.
Use as a throw, bed cover, picnic blanket or table cloth. They can also be used in your interior design projects to make curtains, blinds and cushions and to cover headboards, footstools or chairs.
Each side of a vintage kantha is made from different sari fabric. The first five photos show one side of the quilt and the last three photos show the reverse side. Vintage kanthas are a handmade product, the pattern and stitching can be irregular and tiny patches are often added to the quilts. There is some wear on the pink side of this kantha - see the last photo, but it does not detract from the overall look of the piece.
Size: W1.34m x L1.92m(W53in x L76in). This quilt will fit a single bed. It will also go across a double and UK king (5ft)/US queen bed as a throw.
