Vintage Kantha Throw with Suzani Style Embroidery 50

This kantha throw has been handmade in India from up-cycled fabric that has been over dyed with a natural indigo dye, it has then been overstitched in chain stitch with a suzani style pattern.  Kantha quilts and throws are made from layers of fabric sewn together with a tiny running stitch known as a kantha stitch.  

Each side of a vintage kantha is made from different fabric. The first six photos show one side of the quilt which is a deep bottle green and the last two show the reverse side. Vintage kanthas are a handmade product, the pattern and stitching can be irregular and patches are often added to the quilts. 

Size:  1.63m wide x 2.32m long (W64" x L91"). This kantha quilt will fit a single bed and go across a double/ 4ft6in/ 140cm,  5ft king size/US Queen/160cm and a 6ft/super king/180cm bed as a throw.

Cotton. Machine wash 30C.
