Transylvanian Vintage Embroidered Red Cushion 19

This vintage hand embroidered cushion comes from Transylvania and is a traditional design from that area. The design is embroidered on a rustic linen fabric in a warm red cotton thread, the cushion closes with antique French buttons.  The cushion is in very good condition with a few darns stitched by me.

The cushion measures 56cm (22 inches) x36cm (14 inches).  

Care instructions: dry clean only

This style of embroidery is known as Irasos or Hungarian written embroidery, a folk style that originated in Transylvania in the 1700s and is still practised today in Hungary.
