Transylvanian Vintage Embroidered Red Hearts Cushion 9

This vintage hand embroidered cushion comes from Transylvania and is a traditional design from that area. The design is embroidered on a polycotton fabric with cotton thread, the cushion closes with ties and the reverse side is plain, see the last photo.  The cushion is in very good condition with a patch on the reverse side to repair some damage (see the last photo).

The cushion measures 60cm (24 inches) x 34cm (13 inches).

This style of embroidery is known as Irasos or Hungarian written embroidery, a folk style that originated in Transylvania in the 1700s and is still practised today in Hungary.
