Pair of Antique French Cornelys Curtains
This pair of antique French curtains have been cut down from larger curtains to make this narrower pair. You could use them on a bedroom or bathroom window for privacy. These curtains are made from fine cotton lawn, embroidered with crewel work known in France as 'un rideau de Cornelys, they date from the 1900's but have a newer hand stitched cotton tape at the top, you could sew rings on to the tape allowing them to be hung on a slim baton or pole.
A hand-stitched frill runs down one side of each curtain, and if you hang the curtains as a pair then the frills will be in the centre where the two curtains meet.
These curtains are in very good condition for their age. There are a few pin prick holes but these will hardly show once the curtain is lightly gathered - see the last few photos.
Size: These curtains are not an exact pair, one measures 0. 78m wide (31 inches) x 1.99 m long (78 inches) and the other one measures 0.73m wide (29 inches) x 1.92m long (76 inches).
