Antique White Suffolk Puff Quilt
This antique English Suffolk Puff quilt dates from the 1900's and is in very good condition. Suffolk Puffs are gathered circles of fabric, sometimes known as yo-yos. They were very popular during the early years of the 20th century and are named after the Suffolk sheep wool which was often used to stuff them ( Suffolk is a county in England) . The puffs were ideal for using up small scraps of fabric, or recycling old clothes and could be made by children or beginner patchworkers. This quilt is white, I have photographed it on a blue background to ensure that the detail of the puffs or yo-yos stood out.
This bedcover is in excellent condition, there is one area where there a few marks - see the third photo- they are situated in one corner of the quilt and do not detract from it. I have repaired the hole you can see in the second photo where 2 of the puffs have come apart.
The quilt measures 2m x 2.1m (79inches x 83inches)
Cotton with wool filling. Care instructions: Dryclean only.
