Antique French Rustic Hemp Sheet Monogrammed GB

An antique French hemp or chanvre (the French translation) sheet, in an off white colour. It is in excellent condition, no marks or wear. The sheet has been freshly laundered and is ready to use. It would be perfect for upholstery and for dyeing, or use as a bedspread or to make curtains. This is a really heavyweight hemp sheet rarely found nowadays. It has been embroidered with the initials GB in the top centre of the sheet, but interestingly there are another set of initials in a corner 'JRT 'of possibly an earlier date.

This antique sheet was woven on a narrow loom and consists of 2 long pieces fabric that have been joined together down the centre with a tiny hand stitch.
This sheet measures 2.05m wide x 2.4m long. (81 inches wide x 94 inches long).

It will fit a single bed and a double bed 4ft 6inches as a bedspread /throw (the bed in the photo is a super kingsize). It would go across larger beds lengthwise.
