Antique French Cornely Single Curtain / Tablecloth
This antique French tablecloth is made from fine cotton lawn, embroidered with chain stitch - known in France as 'broderie Cornely'. This piece dates from the 1900's, the scalloped edge runs round all four sides of the piece.
Although it was designed as a tablecloth it could be used as a curtain by adding a narrow channel for a thin baton or ribbons to tie it on to a baton. An exceptional find with a beautiful design and in excellent condition. There are a few pin prick holes and a few repairs - see the last three photos, but by the time the curtain is loosely gathered on a pole they will be barely noticeable.
Although there is only one curtain, it could be hung centrally between a pair of heavier curtains to give privacy and a soft light.
Size: The curtain /tablecloth measures 2.56m x 2m ( 101 inches x 79 inches )
Care instructions: hand wash only, no spin and line dry.
