Antique French Cornely Curtain on Tulle
This antique French curtain is made from a fine cotton tulle decorated with an appliqué design of grapes and vine leaves in a fine cotton attached to the tulle with a chain stitch - known in France as 'broderie Cornely'. This piece dates from the 1900's, the scalloped edge runs round three sides of the piece. The top edge is unfinished, but it would be easy to add a narrow band and ribbons with which to attach it to a curtain pole or baton. This beautiful piece could also be used as a bridal train.
A rare find in excellent condition. There are a few little repairs here and there but they are barely noticeable.
Although there is only one curtain, it could be hung centrally between a pair of heavier curtains to give privacy and a soft light.
Size: The curtain measures 3.10m long x 1.6m wide ( 122 inches long x 63 inches wide)
Care instructions: hand wash only, no spin and line dry.
