This antique bedcover comes from the Alsace region of France, the weave is know as 'kelsch', it is woven from linen. The front of the textile is a traditional check design and the back is a plain natural rustic linen. Both sides are in excellent unused condition. Cover size : 1.5m wide (59inches ) x 1.56m long (61inches). The cover is open at one end and closes with ties. The initials AM have been embroidered on the back of the cover.
Originally this type of cover would have been stuffed with an eiderdown.
Use as a bed cover or use the fabric for your sewing projects to make cushions or upholstery.
Woven on a narrow loom, two narrow pieces of the textile are carefully hand stitched together to make each wider piece.
Care instructions: Machine wash - 30C. Line dry.
