This small striped mat is actually a vintage salt carrier from the middle East. It is woven in wool in bright colours and is in excellent condition. The stripes vary on each side of the piece. It can be used as a small mat, to line a cupboard or a pet's bed.
It measures 0.7m wide and 0.41m long. There is a hole where the salt would have been added on one short side (see the last photo). This hole could be used to add stuffing and so make a cushion from the piece.
