This antique French curtain is made from fine cotton lawn, embroidered with crewel work - known in France as 'un rideau de Cornely'. The crewel work embroidery features flowers and leaves.
Size: 1.4m wide (55 inches) x 2.4m Long (95 inches).
This curtain dates from the late 19th century. The scalloped edge runs down each long edge and along the bottom of the curtain. The curtain has had a rufflette tape heading added and cotton ties sewn along the top edge.
This curtain is in very good condition. There are a few pin prick holes but by the time the curtain is loosely gathered on a pole the holes will be barely noticeable. (See the last photo).
This is a truly stunning Parisian style window treatment that is in remarkable condition for its age. A single curtain should as this one can be hung centrally between heavier curtains, to provide privacy and diffuse light.
