An unusually wide and long piece of antique French blue stripe hemp fabric that could be used for upholstery, as a curtain or as a tablecloth. Originally this type of piece would have used as a cart cover to protect the contents of a cart. It has been bound on all four sides with antique linen tape on the reverse side. The background colour of the hemp is a mid grey.
It is in excellent condition, with one faint mark - see the last photo. The initials CG have been embroidered onto the top edge.
It measures 1.86m wide x 2.6m long (73inches x 263inches).
Woven on a narrow loom there is a join down the centre of the piece.
