This antique bedcover comes from the Alsace region of France and is know as 'kelsch' fabric, it is woven from linen and cotton. The front of the textile is a traditional check design and the back is a plain natural coloured fabric. Both sides are in excellent unused condition. Originally this type of cover would have been stuffed with an eiderdown.
Use as a duvet cover or use the fabric for your sewing projects to make cushions or upholstery.
Cover size : 1.46m wide (57inches ) x 1.62m long (64inches). The cover is open at one end.
Woven on a narrow loom, two narrow pieces of the textile are carefully hand stitched together to make each wider piece.
Care instructions: Machine wash - 30C. Line dry.
