This antique French broderie anglaise trim has come from the bottom of a white cotton petticoat. The cut-out work trim has been hand embroidered, and the tiny pleats have also been hand-stitched.
The piece measures 2.6 metres long (102 inches). The broderie anglaise section is 0.15 metres (6 inches) deep and the whole piece measures 0.73 metres deep (29 inches). It is in very good condition with a few small marks in one area on the section above the pleats (see the last photo).
Use it to trim the bottom of a skirt, dress or blouse, it could also be used to make gathered sleeves or to trim the top of a sheet or the bottom of a curtain.
Care instructions: machine wash 30C, line dry.
