This pair of antique French curtains are made from fine cotton lawn, embroidered with crewel work - known in France as 'broderie de Cornelys'.
Each curtain is 0.62m wide x 1.96m long (24 inches wide x 77inches long).
The curtains date from the 1870's. The scalloped edge runs down each long edge of each curtain. I think they were shortened at some point, as they have a straight hem at the bottom. A cotton tape has been sewn to the top of each curtain - see the last photo. There are some rust marks from the curtains rings on the tape, but otherwise no marks on the right side and only a few small repairs and pin prick holes in each curtain.
Care instructions: hand wash only, no spin and line dry.
All our linens are freshly laundered in the UK and come ready to use.
