This pair of antique French curtains are made from fine cotton lawn, embroidered with crewel work - known in France as 'les rideaux de Cornelys'.
Each curtain measures 1.58m wide (62 inches) x 2m Long (79 inches). This listing is for a pair (two curtains).
These curtains date from the late 19th century. The scalloped edge runs down each long edge and along the bottom of each curtain. The curtains have been shortened and have white tape sewn to the top of each curtain. I have only photographed one curtain as I did not have the space to photograph them side by side. However, they are identical and the condition is similar on each curtain. The embroidery features flowers, leaves and a pineapple.
These curtains are in very good condition. There are a few pin prick holes and some neat repairs but by the time the curtain is loosely gathered on a pole the holes will be barely noticeable.
This is a truly stunning Parisian style window treatment that is in remarkable condition for its age.
Care instructions: hand wash only, no spin and line dry.
