Pair of Antique French Cornelys Curtains
This pair of antique French curtains have been cut down from larger curtains to make this shorter pair. This size is ideal for hanging over the bottom half of a window to give you some screening. Or use on on small bathroom windows for privacy. The curtains are made from fine cotton lawn, embroidered with crewel work known in France as 'un rideau de Cornelys'. These curtains date from the 1900's and have an original hand-stitched heading tape, you could sew rings on to the tape allowing it to be hung on a slim baton or pole.
The scalloped edge runs down both edges of the curtains and the bottom edge is straight and has been neatly hemmed by hand.
These curtains are in excellent condition. There are a few pin prick holes on the bottom right of one curtain. - see the last photo.
