Antique French Quilt Madder Red & Indigo Block Print Pique

This antique French quilt has a beautiful block print pattern on one side in an a soft red and indigo blue pattern.  The reverse side is a plain cream cotton. This country style  French quilt or 'piqué' dates from the early 19th century and has been beautifully hand quilted.   It is in very good condition for it's age, the fabric is sound with one tiny tear and there is one mark on the red and blue side - see photos 6 and 7.  The reverse side has a few marks in places, but nothing terrible.  The quilt has been carefully laundered. and is clean and fresh.  This is a very useable quilt which would also make a fantastic wall hanging, perhaps behind a bed. I also use quilts like this  folded on a hall or living room table as they look very decorative.

The quilt measures 2 m wide x 2.10m long (79 inches x 83inches)

Will fit a 5ft/king/US queen/160cm bed and a 6ft/super king size/180cm bed.
