Transylvanian Vintage Embroidered Raspberry Red Cushion 10

This vintage hand embroidered cushion comes from Transylvania and is a traditional design from that area. The design is embroidered on a rustic linen fabric with raspberry red cotton thread, the cushion closes with buttons and the reverse side is plain, see the last photo.  The cushion is in excellent condition.

The cushion measures 56cm (22 inches) x 47cm (19 inches).

This style of embroidery is known as Irasos or Hungarian written embroidery, a folk style that originated in Transylvania in the 1700s and is still practised today in Hungary.
