This vintage hand embroidered cushion comes from East Europe and is a traditional design from that area. The design is embroidered on a rustic linen fabric in a red cotton thread, the cushion closes with red ties. The cushion is in excellent condition on the embroidered side but there are a few marks on the reverse side.

This style of embroidery is known as Irasos or Hungarian written embroidery, a folk style that originated in Transylvania in the 1700s and is still practised today in Hungary.
