Transylvanian Vintage Embroidered Red Cushion 14

This vintage hand embroidered cushion comes from Transylvania and is a traditional design from that area. The design is embroidered on a rustic linen fabric in a dark red cotton thread, the cushion closes with a zip and the reverse side is a vintage Slovenian striped fabric, see the last photo.  The cushion is in excellent condition.

The cushion measures 46cm (18 inches) x 41cm (16 inches).

This style of embroidery is known as Irasos or Hungarian written embroidery, a folk style that originated in Transylvania in the 1700s and is still practised today in Hungary.
