Antique French Quilt - Pink Roses
This antique French hand-stitched quilt has a very pretty floral pattern of roses and leaves on one side and a plain white cotton on the reverse side which highlights the hand stitched quilting . It is in very good condition. This handmade French quilt also known as a 'pique' dates from the 1880's and comes from Provence in the south of France, it was originally a woman's warm winter skirt gathered at the waist - a 'jupon' in French. It has been altered to make a long piece of quilting and all the edges have been neatly bound. the last three photos show the reverse side of the quilt and the last two photos show 2 small areas of wear.
The quilt measures 1.05m wide x 2.24m long (41inches x 88inches)
It will go across a kingsize(5ft bed) and a superking (6ft bed) as a throw. Or use it to cover the back of a sofa or to decorate a table. It could also be adapted to make a beautiful quilt for a child's bed
All our quilts are freshly laundered in the UK and come ready to use.
