Antique Alsace Kelsch Pillow Cover Raspberry Red Check

This antique rapsberry red and white check pillow cover is made from a metis (mix) of linen and cotton on the check side and a plain rustic linen on the reverse side.  This type of fabric comes from the Alsace region of France, and is now quite hard to find. 

Originally the pillow cover (or perhaps it is a small eiderdown cover for a child as it is quite large) would have been stuffed with straw or feathers to use in the home. This type of fabric is unique and beautifully woven, the pillow cover can be used just as it is, or use the fabric for upholstery or to make smaller pillows. The fabric is hard wearing and in excellent condition.  There are some ties to close the cover. 

Size 0.74 m wide (29inches ) x 0.81m long( 32inches).

Care instructions: Machine wash - cold . Line dry.
